et’s build a bit crusher in Max for Live. Launch Ableton Live. Launch a Max Audio Effect template on an audio channgel. Launch the Max patching environment. Click „L“ anywhere and add a live.dial then alt-click and drag to duplicate it. Click a dial, open the inspector, name it „Sample Rate“ for the Short Name and make the following changes. Check Include in Presentation Change Unit Style to Float Check Initial Enable and set Initial to 1 And set the Range from 0. to 1. Click the second dial, open the inspector, name it „Bit Depth“ for the short name and make the following changes. Check Include in Presentation Set Range from 0. to 24. Check Initial Enable and set Initial to 24 Next, click N in the environment to add a „degrade~“ then alt-click and drag to duplicate it. Now we just connect the dots. „plugin~“ left channel into „degrade~“ top left input and „degrade~“ bottom output to „plugout~“ left input. „plugin~“ right channel into the other „degrade~“ top left input and „degrade~“ bottom output to „plugout~“ right input. The Sample Rate dial left output goes into the middle input of both the „degrade~“ units. The Bit Crush dial left output goes into the far right input of both the „degrade~“ units. Make sure nothing is selected and go to the View menu and click „Inspector Window“, here make sure the check „Open in Presentation“ to see the Dials in Ableton Live. Next Click the Presentation icon at the bottom of the Max window and make things look pretty. Save it. Close the Max window and crush them bits.
